This site lists open graduate assistantship positions available on Western Kentucky University's campus.  Details about the assistantship program are available.  For questions about the positions themselves, be sure to e-mail the contact person listed in the job announcement.

The table below lists open general (service oriented) graduate assistantship positions which have been submitted to the Graduate School by WKU faculty or staff.  If you are interested in applying to a position and feel that you meet the qualifications please inquire directly with the listed contacted person.  Please note: these listings represent what has been submitted to the Graduate School, but not all areas choose to list their GA open positions here.  Please contact your academic department for the most complete information about potential openings.

Department: Academic Advising and Retenion Center (AARC)

Job Title: Graduate Assistant, Retention Programs

Description: To support the Assistant Director of the Academic Advising and Retention Center (AARC) with all duties, assignments, and tasks necessary to the continued functioning and growth of the Best Expectation Programs (BEP). The BEP program is required for all students on Main and South Campus on Academic Probation.

Best Expectation Programs (BEP)

  • Facilitate weekly BEP sessions, 3-7 individual sections, for the first ten (12) weeks of each semester
  • Assist with the BEP Orientation program and any make-up orientation sessions
  • Report and track attendance for all BEP sessions
  • Assist with data collection and reports for the BEP program
  • Hold additional office hours each week to support student success (some evening work required, see below)

Stipend and Tuition:

  • $10,000 stipend paid over a 10-month period (August 13th, 2018 – May 17th, 2019)
  • In-state tuition rates are provided for all students serving as graduate assistants per Graduate School policy.

Qualifications:

  • Full-time, degree seeking graduate student
  • Have excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work well in a team setting
