WKU Engineering's Land Surveying Programs

SurveyingIs Surveying for YOU?

Surveyors are required to work outside in cold to hot conditions, walk over rough ground carrying heavy pieces of equipment while combating the usual assortment of insects.  Surveyors should be comfortable working with numbers, performing calculations and be able to visualize three-dimensionally.  Operating complex computer-like equipment is also required to be successful.

Additional surveying job description information can be found at the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics web site (

The National Society of Professional Surveyors web site ( can also provide job information.  An excellent short but highly informative video titled "Professional Land Surveying - A Career Without Boundaries" can be viewed by clicking here (it may take several minutes to download).

Specific information about Western Kentucky University surveying programs can be viewed on the following pages available here.
