Welcome to The Gatton Academy, Kentucky’s first two-year residential STEM school for gifted and talented high school juniors and seniors. Our students come from across the Commonwealth of Kentucky to conduct research with professors, study abroad, and attend college classes. While challenged academically, our students thrive in a supportive environment designed specifically for them.

Infinite Possibilities Exist at
The Gatton Academy!

We're not typical high school students. Our junior and senior years are spent at Western Kentucky University taking college classes in math, science, and lots of other subjects. While many students are looking for their locker combination, we're searching for alternative fuels and a cure for cancer. We don't have an 8 a.m. bell or homeroom, but we'll finish high school with over 60 hours of college credit. Our home on campus is Schneider Hall, an awesome place to live and learn with friends. Best of all, as a student at the Gatton Academy, tuition, housing, and meals come at no cost to us or our families.

Several of our Academy Avatars, the official ambassadors, post blogs throughout the year, detailing events from move-in to graduation and many events in between.

What is
The Gatton Academy?

There's nothing quite like experiencing the unique environment of The Gatton Academy first hand. For that, we host several Preview Weekends throughout the fall and winter. As you begin to explore The Academy as an educational opportunity, why not check out our admissions video? Gatton Academy students and staff members share their experiences with the program as we outline our community, the academics found here, research opportunities, and study abroad trips.
